Jordan River Trail

Rating: 3 stars.

Use: Hiking.

Difficulty: Easy.

Distance: 3.2 km return to the end of the trail.

Description: A beautiful little trail so close to town. This gem of a trail follows the east shore of the river with several scenic beaches along the way. I’m not sure what the history of the trail is but I suspect it was originally a fishermans trail to fish the lower Jordan River. Note however that fishing is currently not allowed at any point above the Trans Canada Highway bridge so fishing here would be illegal.

Directions: Get onto Westside Road from the Highway 1 junction. Follow this road until you reach the Jordan River Bridge. Park on the northeast side of the bridge in the small parking area down on the left.

  1. This amazing trail may be threatened by an application to the government by a local company to create a gravel pit in its present location.
Jake-Jay Construction Ltd. has made an application to the government for two gravel pits in the Jordan River Valley northwest of Revelstoke. The proposed ‘Westside Road’ gravel pit would completely destroy Revelstoke’s ‘Jordan River Trail’.
I encourage everyone that has not been on this trail to go and check it out for yourselves. Once you have done that click on this link and add your comment as to why this trail should be left intact.

Then write a letter to the City Council and let then know that they should not endorse such a gravel pit so close to town.
Here are the email addresses to include in that email.,,,,,,
We can stop this if we all have our say.
