Rating: 4 stars.
Use: Hiking.
Difficulty: Moderate.
Distance: 5 km return.
Description: A great hike with an easy drive-to-alpine approach. Not to be confused with the Sale Mountain downhill bike trail. A traverse from Sale Mountain to Mount Revelstoke via the West Woolsey Cabin is a highly recommended trip. Refer to the traverse in the Mount Revelstoke National Park Traverse Route section.
Directions: Drive north from Revelstoke on Highway 23. Go past the Martha Creek Provincial Park Campground. Turn right onto the Sale FSR. From here it is a 14.8 km drive to the trailhead. If you go all the way to the microwave tower, you have gone too far. The trailhead is at the last switchback.

As of mid September 2013 the Sale FSR has been graded. Nice to see. It was starting to get a little rough. Good to go now.
Hello
I’m curious of a 2wd Van would make it up to the trailhead? We’ve been before but it was in 4wd and a bunch of years ago.
Thanks!
I think it will, but it wont be easy on your van!
The road has been ploughed to the microwave tower, but there is still 2-3 feet of snow up there. Tired hiking into the chicken coop but had issues keeping on track. Turned back. Probably 2 weeks away from being snow free.
